# Overview

> Pick a Stophy client: the TypeScript or Python SDK for code, or the CLI for your terminal and AI agent skills. Install lines for each.

Stophy ships three official clients. Each wraps the same [REST API](/api-reference/introduction): your key, retries, and errors.

## Pick one

Write code that calls Stophy and handles the result: use the **TypeScript** or **Python SDK**. Both return typed data you can use directly.

Run a one-off lookup, pipe results into another command, or give an agent shell access to Stophy without writing a client: use the **CLI**. It also installs Stophy's agent skills, so a coding agent learns which endpoint to call without you wiring an SDK into the project.

## What every client does

* Reads `STOPHY_API_KEY` from your environment, so you rarely pass a key by hand.
* Returns markdown when you ask for it, JSON otherwise.
* Retries network errors and `429`/`5xx` responses with backoff, honoring `Retry-After`.
* Reads account usage and recent calls.
